High-Scale Social Media Platform

Petzbe

Petzbe needed a mobile platform that could keep pace with rapid community growth without sacrificing the playful, media-rich experience that defined the brand. We partnered as their primary Android engineering team to rebuild core feed infrastructure, ship a refreshed UI, and harden the app for millions of monthly sessions.

The challenge

The original Android app struggled as the community scaled past seven figures in registered users. Home feed loads exceeded four seconds on mid-tier devices, image and video uploads failed silently on unstable networks, and engagement features lagged behind iOS—driving churn among creators who relied on mobile to post daily.

Our approach

We re-architected the feed around paginated, cache-first timelines with background prefetch and diff-based UI updates. Media uploads moved to a resumable pipeline with client-side compression and exponential backoff. A modular presentation layer let design ship refreshed surfaces without rewriting business logic, and we introduced structured analytics events so product could measure funnel health in real time.

Results

Median feed load time dropped to under 1.2 seconds on target devices, crash-free sessions climbed above 99.4%, and weekly active creators on Android increased 38% within two release cycles after parity with core iOS features.
